OBX!

Ok, so how long has it been. I think forever and a day. It is now middle of July and we are here on vacation in the OBX of NC. This place is awesome. The ride from Apex to here was fine. 4 hours or so and then a 2.5 hour ferry ride. Our first night we ate at a place called Howards Pub. It was pretty good. The great thing was that not only could I get a draft pint of Woodchuck Cider but I could get a whole pitcher of it too!!!! Where is my Aunt Fran when I need her. I know that she would have loved to have had some with me sitting at the table eating seafood. That was night one as we all headed back to the wonderful little house we rented for the week.

Ok, now about the house before anything else. It is gorgeous. Nice size screened in front porch with not just one but two swings and a ceiling fan. two car garage, spacious kitchen joined by the living room. One full size bathroom, outdoor shower and two rooms. This is very wonderful to be in and very relaxing. I will follow up more with pictures.

For our first day so far B and E woke up to take a nice long walk about around the island town and did a little exploring. They came back to K and I just kind of chilling out. We then went to go to the beach via our bikes down to a path that was really a nature trail but no real beach. We then began to ride down a road that was 3 miles long but the sea wind was in our faces and I had a bit of a sail behind me pulling the two kids. This sail was no help at all to me in the forward moving aspect. So B caught up to me after stopping to walk her bike and we decided to drive to the far north part of the island and go to the beach that way. We stayed up there for a spell while High Tide was on it's way in and well it about washed the children out to sea. We had fun none the less. From there we strolled into town after a clean off session to have some lunch at a place called Creek Side Cafe. The food was ok, it was not bad but not make you want to slap your momma good. After Lunch we strolled up the strip to a place called Sweet Tooth for some desert and that too for me at least was ok. Nothing too fancy though.

Tonight (because two of us are not feeling so hot because we think we have some kind of summer all of a sudden cold, running nose, headache and all around crappy feeling (B and I)) for dinner we are having chicken noodle soup, grilled cheese sandwiches and brochette. This is pretty much the end of the night. The rest of this is going to be spent just hanging out with the kids and maybe watching a movie. I may try to venture out later in the evening and see the night sky as there are supposed to be no clouds tonight. WOW, to see all the stars in the sky without any other bright lights getting in the way.

Right now as I finish this up I am swinging on the front porch that is screened in and just relaxing...... Cheers all. :-)
